A Clubhouse Hole In One-KEMOSABE Iced Flavored Coffee

Posted by Southwest Beverages on 7/20/2015

Its late afternoon on a very hot, hazy and humid 94-degree day and I'm out playing golf for the very first time (everyone thinks that since I'm a baseball player I'll naturally be a good golfer) with my three friends at Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield, CT. All day each of them were playing close to par while I was playing 6-8 shots over par-per hole! We're now at the 398 yard, par 4, 18th hole. I hit first, driving the ball high and long-straight down the middle of the fairway and what appeared to me to be a shot that went over the horizon. It reminded me of when Hercules threw the discus in the first Olympics-it went so far it went beyond the curvature of the earth. This was a once in a lifetime shot-a shot. A shot I'll surely, never, ever repeat.

The ball lands about 160 yards from the green, but behind a tree. Using the club given to me by my pairing mate, something called a "7 iron" I prepared for my second shot. I took a few practice swings, like you see the pro do on TV. I then approached the ball. I swung under the ball and up it went over the tree, bounced once on the 18th green, hit the flag pole and gently slid down the pole coming to a rest in the cup. "An Eagle" one of my friends yelled out, as a big smile came to my face.

After the remaining three completed their turns at the 18th hole-one hit par, while the other two were each 1 over-we made our way to the club house for some nice cold drinks. Each of them ordered beers, while I ordered an iced flavored coffee. Not only were they envious of my performance on the 18th hole but now of the delicious chocolate cinnamon ice flavored coffee, topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup and garnished with sprinkled cinnamon spice that the waiter delivered. What a day, a day that I will remember forever.

PS-They never asked me to play golf with them again.
