The temperatures continue to drop and most of our bodies simply arenít ready for it. Of course, we can start ĎlayeringĒ up more and more to stay warm, but there are plenty of other ways that can help. If youíre looking for some sure-fire ways to shake the cold out of your bones, try some of these suggestions:
1. Drink a Warm Beverage
Itís actually quite amazing how a single cup of coffee or hot cocoa can warm your body up immensely! If youíre looking for a quick fix, Sippity® Hot Cocoa and Kemosabe® Coffee from Southwest Beverages is not only an instant solution, but itís one of the best tasting warm beverages money can buy!
2. Block The Wind
One of the biggest reasons for your house becoming cold during the winter is due to cracks and leaks that allow the frigid air to blow in. Make sure that all windows and doors maintain an airtight seal in order to prevent the wind from getting in. Also, two-curtain setups with a liner on the inside are great for keeping the cold air from breaching your windows.
3. Walls: Clear by Day, Reinforce by Night
During the day, you and your home will want to soak up as much sunlight as possible while itís available. Make sure to open the curtains and keep your walls clear to get the natural warmth into your house. At night, lean things against your walls to add an extra barrier from the cold.
4. Warmth by Dryer
Put your pajamas or clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes before you need them.
Cooking a hearty meal provides warmth in more ways than you thought. Running the stove and oven will be sure to heat your home while the meal is being cooked. Once finished, youíll now have a hot meal to eat and added calories that will both combine to warm your body up!
6. Body Heat
You knew this (obvious) suggestion was coming: Rather than packing on those extra layers, why not just grab your significant other and start cuddling! Sharing each otherís body heat will be sure to warm you up during cold winter nights. Plus, who doesnít want a companion close by when youíre stuck indoors!
But you didnít suspect this (not so obvious) suggestion was coming: If your significant other really loves you, ask them to go warm up your side of the bed 10 minutes before youíre ready to go to sleep.
