The Creation of Brands Sippity® and Sippity Lite®Brand Sippity® was created in 2011 by Southwest Beverage’s co-founder, Susan Jenkins, who, as a mother who raised four children in Ridgefield, CT often found that sipping hot chocolate from her favorite mug cradled in her hands on a cold winter’s day, while watching her children play outside in the snow, was an extremely comforting experience, particularly after a trying day. It is from this experience that she named the brand, Sippity®, and made its tag line, “Comfort In A Cup®”.

Sippity is positioned to be an interactive brand with its consumers. Consumers are encouraged to send in pictures of them drinking Sippity® for the opportunity to either be featured on the front of one of the Sippity® or Sippity Lite® flavor boxes, or on the back of the box in its “Mug Shot” section. In addition, consumers are encouraged to submit their Sippity recipes for potential publication in the company’s E-Book of food and beverage recipes and their “witty” testimonials for potential inclusion on its website and advertising.

The brand began with five flavors-chocolate, chocolate marshmallow, chocolate cinnamon, pumpkin spice and chocolate peppermint and featured three of Susan’s children on the chocolate, chocolate marshmallow and chocolate peppermint boxes.

The Creation of Brands Sippity® and Sippity Lite®To recognize those consumers who prefer less sugar but also wanted to enjoy the “Comfort In A Cup®” Sippity® experience, Susan, in 2014, developed the brand, Sippity Lite®. The Sippity Lite® range of products are identical to those of the Sippity® flavors in taste and aroma but with less than 2 grams of sugar per serving. The Sippity Lite® brand maintains the same interactive positioning as Sippity®.

In 2014, Sippity® and Sippity Lite® added their sixth flavor, chocolate raspberry. In addition, Sippity® and Sippity Lite® began marketing their four chocolate based flavors-chocolate marshmallow, chocolate cinnamon, chocolate peppermint and chocolate raspberry-in a collection box, which consists of eight single serve envelopes-two of each chocolate based flavor.

Bob holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Arizona.
