Something To Talk About-SIPPITY Gourmet Flavored Iced Hot Chocolate

Posted by Southwest Beverages on 5/10/2016

Did you ever go on a date or go out to dinner with a friend or family member and they simple don’t talk? Even when you ask them an open question such as, how’s school, or what was your favorite part of the movie, they simple answer with one or two words. Such was the case last Friday night when I asked, Clair, a seventy-two year-old widowed woman I met at the Abilene Swim Club out for a drink.

On the five-mile drive over to The Daily Grind Café, Clair said virtually nothing. Even when asked about how she first got into swimming and how long have you been going to the Club, her only response was less than a sentence. Normally, I would have looked to end our “date” but I was physically attracted to Clair and to be honest the last three years have been lonely for me ever since my wife passed away.

“Isn’t this a cute place?” I asked Claire as we entered the café.

“Yes.”

After our hostess seated us I again tried to make small talk. “I hear they have the best gourmet flavored iced hot chocolate here.” Well, that was the magic line because for the next ten minutes Clair told me how much she loved iced hot chocolate, how her and her husband would get containers of iced hot chocolate and go and watch little league games on a Saturday night, and how her and her girlfriends would meet every Monday afternoon at her house to discuss the weekend while enjoying iced hot chocolate.

“Well, Clair,” I stated, interrupting her from telling me a story about how her and her husband would take several packets of Sippity hot cocoa mix with them on their trips across the desert from Abilene to Dallas so that they could enjoy iced hot chocolate at their motel in the evening. “I think we better order. I see the waiter is headed this way for the second time.”

“Have you decided?” The waiter asked looking to Clair.

“I’ll have a chocolate cinnamon iced hot chocolate,” she replied.

To make a long story short, Clair and I have been dating for the past three months and have tried every gourmet flavor of Sippity and Sippity Lite iced hot chocolate the company makes.
