“We will begin the boarding process
for American Airlines flight 1624 to San Francisco in a few minutes,” the
American Airlines representative announced over the public address system signaling
me to get up from the boarding area and head towards the neighboring Cloud Nine
“I’ll have a medium container of Kemsoabe Lite chocolate hazelnut
diet coffee,” I stated to the café clerk after the gentleman in front of me had
paid for his order and moved to the order pick up area.
“Excellent choice,” the clerk replied. “Nice and healthy,”
he added. “That will be two-dollars and twenty-five cents.”
Ten minutes later I was headed down the isle of the plane
towards my seat in 17-A carry-on in tow, pack-pack swinging from side to side
while over my shoulder, pocket book in one hand and my container of coffee in
the other. “Excused me,” I announced to the well-dressed middle aged man seating
in the center seat. “I have seat 17-A.”
“May I help you with something,” the man announced after he
had gotten up and stood next to me in the isle while I begin to pick up my
carrying-on with one hand while holding my container of diet coffee in the
“Yes, please,” I replied, handing him the container of diet coffee.
After I had successfully placed my carry-on and pack-pack in
the overhead bin and taken my seat the man handed me my container of coffee.
“Thank you so much,” I stated as I opened the lid of the
“Boy, that coffee sure smells delicious,” the man said as I took
my first sip.
“It is. It’s Kemosabe Lite diet coffee. Chocolate hazelnut
diet coffee to be exact,” I stated.
“I can’t say as if I heard of that brand,” he replied.
“It’s very popular today.”
“Tell me about it, if you don’t mind.”
“Certainly. Kemosabe gourmet coffee is produced by Southwest
Beverages, which also makes a delicious line of gourmet flavored hot chocolates,
if you’re interested. Anyway, Kemosabe comes in six spectacular flavors: mocha,
chocolate cinnamon, crème butterscotch, french vanilla, chocolate irish cream
and, of course, the chocolate cinnamon I am drinking. All of the flavors are
100 % gluten free, 99.9 % caffeine free. And each of these flavors comes in
diet versions, which contain less than 1 gram of sugar per serving.”
“That sounds very healthy,” the man injected.
“Actually it is,” I replied, holding the container up at my face
level while talking to it. “For example, this container of Kemosabe Lite diet
coffee contains only 41 calories.”
“Yes, and only 17 fat calories,” I added.
“Well young lady, I certainly appreciate you taking the time
to educated me about the “plane” facts of Kemosabe diet coffee,” he stated with
emphasis on the word plane.
“Oh, I get it,” I replied laughing. “Plane facts. Very
“Well enjoy your coffee. I must now do some work.”
