“Billy, remember tomorrow morning, first thing, where going
to the gym,” I said to my roommate as we sat on the couch watching the end of
the Jets-Buffalo game. “You appointed me your coach and you made a resolution
to get an eight pack back by the summer.”
“I know, Gary, it’s just hard getting up at 4:30 AM, getting
into a freezing cold car and driving fifteen minutes to the gym,” he replied
with the energy of a lazy dog in mid-August.
“Well you’re going to do it this time, Billy! I’ll see to

For the past six weeks, since Thanksgiving when, if you are
like most people you consumed about 4000 calories, to now, a few days after New
Year’s day, you have absolutely abused your body. You attended three or four
Christmas parties, one party at a neighbors and had three or four heavy family
meals to “celebrate” Christmas. Most likely you gained an average of five to
seven pounds from all the alcohol and food you consumed. It’s now time to show
your body some love.

OK, so you made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight. It
only the second day into the new year and you’re already craving cake, cookies,
ice cream and of course the seven hundred calorie mocha latte you have been
getting as part of your morning routine to pay homage to that “shrine” of a
body you have. Enough already. Recapture the inspiration you had when you made
your resolution to lose weight. It can be done. Many before you have done it.
Do it this time.

“What a New Year’s Eve party I stated to my
girlfriend, Kathy, as I spoke into my cell phone. “I didn’t get home until
twenty after four this morning,” I added as I sat up in bed barely having the
energy to run my hand through my hair. “Everyone from work was there. Even
“I know, I saw the way he was looking at you all

Around the world family, friends and loved ones come together on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to celebrate. In the United States we gather on New Year’s Eve to “ring out the old and ring in the new” by raising our glasses at midnight while sharing hugs and kisses and listening to, or reveling, Auld Lang Syne.

While there are many reasons to love instant coffee namely,
ease of preparation, great taste, many alternative brands, its portable, no
fancy and expensive coffee machines to maintain and it is high in antioxidants (keeps
your cell membranes free of damage). However, the main reason I love instant
coffee is because my favorite tasting coffee is Kemosabe instant coffee.

As children around the world go to bed this Christmas Eve
they leave cookies and cocoa for Santa as a treat for him, who, they hope,
will, sometime during the night, fill their stocking and leave presents galore.
These cookies and cocoa, most likely prepared by their parents, are a symbol of
hope that Santa’s presents will bring happiness and joy to their child the next
For the children of the world this gesture of treats for
Santa defines the magical moment that only Christmas Eve can manifest. That
moment in time that we as parents wish could be frozen-a time when the world is
at peace; a time of tranquility felt by our fellow human beings as God’s
stewards of his earth and that time when “Goodwill Towards Men” surfaces to the
forefront of humanity.

“Whose gifts are these?” my daughter Kimberly asked as she
held up four flavored collection boxes of Kemosabe gourmet coffee.
“There stocking stuffers,” I replied while I was reaching
for the wrapping paper.
One’s for your grandmother, one is for Uncle Craig, one is
for Aunt Caroline and the last one is my co-worker, Lester.”
“What a wonderful idea,” Kimberly commented. Holding one of
the boxes Kimberly began to read, “mocha, chocolate cinnamon, chocolate
hazelnut, crème butterscotch, french vanilla and chocolate irish cream. What
great flavors. This sounds delicious. And you get two envelopes of each flavor.
What a great gift, Mom.”
“Yeah, I thought so,” I happily replied. “I know they all
love gourmet coffee, so I,”
Interrupting, Kimberly announced, “But grandma has a gluten

“That was a tough game,” Paul stated to me in the locker
room following our playoff game victory against the Larson City Bulldogs.
“They’re linebacker was awesome! That guy seemed to be everywhere I tried to
run today,” Paul added referring to him being the team’s running back and was
tackled often by the opposing team’s linebacker.
“Awesome is not the word for that guy! I proclaimed. He’ll
be in the NFL someday,” I answered. “But the fact of the matter is we won and
next week we’re playing for the state championship.”
“Hopefully, the weather will be a little more cooperative,”
Paul stated. “Man, it was raw out there today. That wind got to me midway
through the third quarter.”

Ask any parent and they will tell you they have forever etched
in their mind fond memories of their children opening their presents on
Christmas morning. One such memory is of my daughter, Karen, when she was four.
Five days before Christmas she was given the cutest little stuffed teddy bear,
wearing a red and white Santa hat. She named the bear, Jonathan. For the next
four days Karen took Jonathan everywhere she went-to Sunday school, the movies,
play house and even helped Mom make Christmas cookies.

“Ashley, have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?” my
best friend, and next door neighbor, asked when she called me on Friday
“No, Ash, the only things I have yet to get are a few stocking
stuffers for the kids, wrapping paper and boxes-you know the stores are too
cheap to give you a box with your purchase so now you have to buy them.”
“Why don’t we meet up tomorrow around 11 AM and complete our
lists?” I suggested to Ashley. “Like you, I have only a few things left to get
for my daughters, so we should be able to get everything done by late
afternoon. Besides I need to get out of this house and feel the Christmas
spirit of the downtown decorations, lights and excitement.”

"Tina, I know
the mailman is not supposed to accept gifts anytime, let alone at Christmas,
but do you think Tommy would accept a small gift from me that shows my
appreciation for him delivering my mail while I was recovering from my hip
replacement surgery?" I asked my neighbor while referring to our mailman,
"No. I don't
think he'll mind. Rather I think he'll appreciate it and look upon it as a gift
of kindness," Tina replied. "What did you have in mind?"

"Yeah, Bill, these fifteen hour days are having their toll
on all of us," I replied.
The next day I came in early and laid out twenty-five single
serve envelopes of Kemosabe gourmet flavored coffee-five each of mocha,
chocolate cinnamon, chocolate hazelnut, chocolate irish cream and crème
butterscotch. I then attached a note to the cabinet above the coffee display
which read, "Make Spirits Brighter-Enjoy the delicious Kemosabe coffee,

I am unlike most people in that I get more satisfaction out
of giving than receiving. And when I give a gift I spend considerable time
trying to match the person, their interests, hobbies, tastes and/or preferences

“Thank you, Dale, ever so much for that wonderful Kemosabe
gourmet flavored coffee collection gift box,” Karen told me two days after she
had opened her secret Santa gift. “Given my gluten free condition, I very
rarely receive gifts that are gluten free. Thank you.”
“You’re certainly welcome, Karen,” I replied. And the coffee
is absolutely delicious. Have you tried the French vanilla yet?”
“No, not yet, but I did have the crème butterscotch
yesterday morning and the chocolate Irish cream last night after dinner.
Honestly, Dale, the crème butterscotch tasted just like the butterscotch
candies my grandmother used to have in her candy dish.”
“Isn’t that flavor amazing?” I asked. “It’s my favorite.
Have you tried the chocolate hazelnut?”

Now is the time to purchase your Sippity gourmet hot cocoa
for Santa. The last thing you need is not to have a steaming hot mug of Sippity
gourmet hot cocoa ready for Santa to enjoy after he delivers presents to your
house. I heard from people in Asia that Santa enjoys Sippity chocolate cinnamon
hot chocolate, while people in Europe have
told me Santa’s favorite flavor is chocolate raspberry. When he comes to North America people have overwhelmingly told me he
enjoys chocolate marshmallow hot cocoa.

don’t wish to admit it, as a young adult kids love Christmas not just for the
presents they receive but for the family memories and traditions that occur.
They love to take part in “going” for the Christmas tree; in making Christmas
cards; in helping Mom wrap presents; in reading “The Night Before Christmas”
and in partaking in family gatherings. Later in life when they reminisce about
these events they will tell you how they enjoyed drinking Sippity flavored hot

they all drink coffee by the “buckets” I decided to explore the world of
